Frequently Asked Questions
When should I apply?
Enrollment is ongoing, with new cohorts kicking off roughly every three months. Classes fill up quickly, so enroll as soon as possible to make sure you can claim a seat in your preferred cohort.
How is the Full Stack Immersion different from self-teaching?
Compared to self-education as a software developer, enrolling in Redwood Code Academy’s 12-week Full Stack Immersion program allows for in-person communications and guidance that drastically expedite the learning process. We keep our class sizes relatively small in order to maximize the amount of 1 on 1 time mentors are able to provide to our students. We focus not only on what our students are learning, but how they can leverage these skills to become a more attractive hiring option to potential employers. By setting specific goals with their mentors, our students rely on our staff members’ industry experience and ability to provide context for the complex methodologies and languages they’re learning — in other words, Redwood students can put everything together in a cohesive format, instead of struggling through complex problems on their own.
Every new coder runs into errors, applications that don’t do what you want them to do, and other common roadblocks that come with starting the software development journey. At Redwood, the opportunity to sit down next to an industry expert who will answer all of your questions, explain a complex problem, and get you past that roadblock in two minutes (compared to the hours spent Googling and trawling through software development message boards online), is one of the main benefits our students get from the small, in-person classes at Redwood Code Academy. Just ask our alumni — students enter Redwood as novices or total beginners, and leave as software development experts with friends, a network of industry contacts, and the chops to succeed as a professional developer.
Are there scholarships available?
Yes! Redwood Code Academy is proud to support diversity in the tech industry with our Women Who Code scholarship. We also offer a scholarship program for veterans looking to transition into technology careers after their terms of service. Ask your admissions counselor about scholarship options by calling (949) 216-7815 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
What happens if I can’t keep up?
We know that taking on the brand new concepts of software development can be overwhelming at first — and everyone needs that little bit of extra help from time to time. If there are topics, projects, or methodologies that simply aren’t clicking for you, our team is ready to spend that extra time with you to guarantee you understand and can apply the lessons you’re learning here at Redwood. We will NEVER leave any students behind if — and when — they struggle. By keeping our class sizes small and hiring only the best educators, we guarantee to meet our students where they are, and help them cross that finish line. That’s why we boast a wonderful graduation rate — and why we’re so proud to do what we do.
